I'm researching JFK's friend Torbert Hart Macdonald. I know he won a Silver Star commanding a PT Boat off New Guinea in a unit that won a Presidential Unit Citation. Can anyone tell me what boat he commanded or have any more information or photos?

Thanks all, I was asking b/c I ran into this great article about how JFK and Joe Jr. showed up at Oak Bluff with a torn sail in July 1941 as they tried to make their way to Edgartown for the regatta. Apparently JFK saw the newspaper clippings later when he was president and wrote a correction that it had not been his brother who was with him that day but Torbert MacDonald.

The archivist from the Vineyard Gazette just sent me a PDF of the original story from that regatta b/c the Navy had a PT boat on display there, as everyone here already knows, I'm sure, but I wanted to read about it in the original news story. Great little piece entitled, "Mosquito Boat A Menacing Visitor to Harbor Craft"

Probably not a nothing new but if anyone wants a copy just message me.
