Sue and I are going to the WW II Museum in New Orleans at the end of August. We are really looking forward to seeing the fantastic job you guys are doing on the 305.

Looks nice! I've seen pictures of the museum but have not been there yet. Your group is so lucky to find someone who will exhibit the boat and maintain her. The Crash Rescue Boat Assn. has a boat about 90% restored, but can't find a home for it. Some modern conveniences need to be removed and the diesels need to come out and be replaced with the Packards. They have engines but I don't know if they are functional.
The concern is that the fellow who restored her has passed and how long will his son be willing to underwrite the cost to maintain the boat and to what degree. I think the boat is in Long Beach, California, I'm glad you have found a good home for your boat.

that engine room looked NOTHING like that when I was aboard her. We did put two of the 671s that were in the 309 boat to run her down to Texas but someone landed the dough to put her on a trailer instead. Prolly a good idea!!

Also sorry to hear of Mr Tretters passing. The P-520 is a great boat. I had a great convo with Mr Tretter about 10 years ago via phone. Nice man.

Carlos,
Bud and Jerry Tretter took the P520 up to Portland a few years before he passed away. We cruised down the river together and they could barely keep up with us idling on 2 engines. I got to tour their entire boat and was very impressed by the way they had the original electrical switchboard as a "false front" that opened to reveal the modern day electrical panels behind it. The Detroit Diesel 12V71 engines were immaculate and the entire engine room was neat as a pin. Bud actually offered the P520 to our group, because he was becoming unable to continue running it. After considering his offer, we had to turn him down since our group did not have enough resources to be able to split between both the PT658 and the P520, and do justice to either boat. We probably passed up a golden opportunity, but I think we made the right decision at the time.
