This looks like boats from RON 8 as I can see PT 144 "The Southern Cross"(cross painted on Radome) in the beginning of the film. Boats are moored at what looks like Mios Woendi.The boat the photographer is on is a RON 21 boat Maybe PT331 "The Ramblin Wrecker" The RON 21 emblem can barly be seen on charthouse, but PT 331 did have 4.5 inch rockets with modified T45 automatic rocket launchers.. later film boat has what looks like PT 115 "Hogan's Goat" RON 25 on stbd side. Nice night action Rocket and gun run too. later working with RAAF Bristol Beauforts. All nice footage!

film #2 : https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/F02624/
nice aerial footage of RAAF Bristol Beauforts working with PT's.

ENJOY!
Take care,
TED

Guys;
When you get a chance, look at the film footage. It is good, and I have never seen it before. I think it goes with the later dated photos as I just read in ACQ, On 24 August 1945 LCDR Theodore "Ted" Stansbury RON 25 CO got underway with 16 boats and PT 115 was his Flag boat.
This was a fine moment for PT Boats! They took General Johnson and met with Japanese Army Lieutenant General Ishii and Japanese Navy Captain Fujita. At the conclusion of this meeting 37,000 troops, 4000 Japanese civilians and a huge cache of weapons (That included 19,000 rifles 900 cannons and 600 machine guns) were surrendered. This sizable Japanese force on Halmahera was completely cut off by the Direct Action and Coastal interdiction tactics employed by the PT Boats of Morotai
Take care,
TED

Just had a chance to watch the vids, very cool! I especially liked the 20mm scenes of winding and mounting the drum.
