I can not find any 1/35 scale PT foot rails. I found 1/72 scale. I don't want to have to scratch build the foot rails if I can avoid it. Anyone found any or perhaps an easy way to scratch build them. If they are to be done correctly, there would be multiple angles, thickness and spacing involved.

CS,
There are no available aftermarket footrails that I know of.
The kit items clean up O.K. You just need to build the 20mm or so that is missing.

Best Regards,
Stu.

Thanks Stu, after looking at the measurements from David, I think I am going to scratch build them. Italeri's Foot Rail is way out of spec in spacing and height.

Stu, where did you get your info on the PT 195 Armament? On NavSource, they list the 195 with One 40mm, two torpedoes, three twin .50 cal. and one 20mm mount. Your rendition shows One 40mm, two 20mm, one 37mm, one quad .50 cal and four torpedos.

Capt,
There are quite a few photos of 195 showing the armament and how it evolved. Like on most of the boats, they kept adding more firepower.
There is a section of footrail missing in the kit to accomodate the depth charge. If you add in that it's not too bad. It's not way out. I agree that it locates in the wrong place but you can move it if you cut off the pins. There are little dimensional errors that stack up all along the deck building up towards the rear which result in the decklights being in the wrong place and the cabins a bit too far back. The footrail is the least of the problems. The worst part is the daycabin. Move one thing and it affects another.
Which boat are you building?

Best Regards,
Stu.

I am doing the 109 the same way you did yours. I am thinking of either doing the 195 because I like the quad .50, it brings back memories from my youth when I built an M16 half track or with building a fictitious PT, something on the lines of a what if the 109 didn't sink.

I have one foot rail almost done, just need to sand and contour the underside.

I would post pics, just can't figure out how.

After deciding that the Italeri Foot Rails are just wrong (too tall and thick, spacing all wrong) I made my own. It was remarkably very easy to do. Here are some photos of the process I used.

I used Evergreen .040" x .040"

Great stuff Luis, you are making it so much easier for the model builders that want to build the PT BOATS. Thanks so much for all you do in making these wanted parts.
