Hi Wayne,
I guess you and I are in the same boat, the manual went for $464.97! Silly me! I thought I could bid around 3 hundred and win. The Seller was nice when I first asked him about it, he added that he also had a number of other PT items he would list later on, he had a blueprint copy of an elco engine room, some service bulletins that had the same quality photos as the manual, and also an Elco PT search light! Just what I need! LOL!
Take care Wayne, Nice to meet you!
Bye for now!

Hello Joy,
Yeah, I looked at the manual when it had 53 minutes left. At that point it was going for $281.00. It would have gone for more if I had bid on it and was almost tempted to.
That Elco Engine Room Blueprint you mentioned sounds like a winner. With your father being a motor mac, its the place your dad serviced and operated these engines. The plan should show the three engine layout and perhaps other equipment. Ask the guy if he could e-mail a photo of this blueprint for you.
If the blueprint works for you then talk to Frank about a copy of that Packard manual. You'll probably have further questions and judging from the friends you're making on this message board they will be answered.
Hope this helps you out. Nice talking to you.

Hi Wayne!!
I've been gone a while, it's great to be back in the USA!! Thanks for the help! You guys are great!
I went on Ebay and the first thing I found was another Packard Manual, It's the same seller and it ends in five days, so I try to jump the price close to the end just like all the sharks do, or are they called snipers?
Bye Bye for now!

Hi Ray!
We are still looking for Dad's photos, he was on two different Elco boats, one was what he called one the early boats, I remember him saying that the accomodations were very tight and damp, also he said the boat would pound your kidneys loose in heavy chop. The second boat was his favorite, it was bigger, and felt more like a yacht to him, he had a bunk in what he called the dayroom just steps away from "his three big Packards". When I find the photos I'll let you all know, the boat numbers were written on the back of each shot. If I remember the first boat was badly damaged in New Guinea and had to be abandoned or distroyed, that was a topic Dad would never go into details about.
I'm proud of all of what Dad went through and I'm learning so much more each time I look into this....but at the same time it makes me kinda of sad.
Bye Bye for now!

Whoo-hoo!
The Elco blueprint is listed!! If I don't win the Manual this time, it will be a good second choice!
