Allied Coastal Forces Volume II states that PT 187 received a second 20mm Mk 14 Oerlikon that was installed on the foredeck in March 1943. Would anyone know the type of mount and whether it was offset to port or on the deck centerline?
Cheers!

Hi Bob,
Not sure of 1943, but I believe by the end of the war PT 187 had a total of three 20mm mounts. One replacing the forward 50 cal tub mount, and two additional ones forward (port and starboard) on Mk14s with a 37mm on a Mk 14 on the bow. It had an aft dual 50 cal tub mount and 40mm on the stern. I believe this was a standard configuration for the Ron late in the war.
Cheers,
Andy

I think the second pic is the 174 boat.

Thanks Andy, Captain Speirs, Will, and Ted for the information and the links. The one photograph of PT 187 is exactly what I was looking for. It shows the boat with the old style torpedo tubes, but also that it has been upgraded with the SO-type radar mast and a Mk. 14 20mm Oerlikon on the foredeck which is offset to port from the deck centerline.
Looks like all this will require minimal modification & scratch-building to the 1/48 BlueJacket kit, and I’m on my way. (What a great forum!)
Cheers!
