Frank told me those are both Elco boats.
A guess would be that the pads are mahogany Dave. It's described as such on one drawing that lists no applicable boats. The drawing shows a slight angle to the lower part of the strut, maybe to offset prop torque? I tried that on my R/C race boats, slightly bending the strut until it would run straight with a dead straight rudder and was happily surprised at the speed and handling improvement.

I just received the struts and rudders from Holden (Luis) via shapeways. The propellers look terrific as well.
