After this is done, the pattern will certainly brighten up the room. Confused as to which way she is heading, you betcha!! One of the hardest patterns to paint. One of the reasons the Navy discontinued the project altogher. Can you imagine having to repaint this boat.

I think it will make a fantastic model. Not only is the conversion fantastic, the paint is something you don't see very often.

Hi
Glad you like the work so far.
I've just spent about 4hrs this afternoon putting the stripes on the cabins
nearly ready to spray them . Then I've still got the tubes to do.
Your right it will be bright even when weathered down.
It would have been a hell of a long job on the real boat.
Hopefully I'll be ready to spray the cabin area tomorrow.
I'll add some pictures once done.

Hello every one.
Have almost finnished the stripes. The top deck is almost finnished & have started on the torpedo tubes. Have done the 20mm. These are place on deck for the pictures. When I've finnished the stripes I've got to go over the areas that blead under the masks.
Then I can get on with the rest of the painting.
Who would I need to contact to find out who was on PT174 .
Especially when she was transferred to the Pacific.

Hi
have been very busy with the build, have finnished the stripes & cleaning up of any bleading. have painted the .50cal guns & added some brass etch ammo belts. I have started to look at the figures & how I want them to be posed.
Have also painted some countershading as seen in the pictures that I have of the 174 not sure about the colour have done it as the cabin's etc in a haze grey colour. ( not sure in there not too dark)
Also you can see a strange green colour stripes not sure exact shade they are supposed to be. apparantly the white stripes were over painted with a bright yellow / green colour once the boat was in the pacific.
The crew will be in the process of painting these.
Otherwise the boat is just about ready to be seal with a coat of matt varnish ready for the weathering.
Have added a few pictures today.
Painting site is.
http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrowse.asp?folder_id=1893543
will add some more pictures soon.
I really need to get a better digital camera.
Thanks for the help with the crew list Ray & Steve.

Muddyfields,
I just found your comments starting in June 2007, where is the posts prior to June?
Where did you get the plans or is it a kit? What scale?
My desktop comuter is in for repair so I'm using my 'old' laptop (translated to very slow) so I've only viewed a few of the pictures. Nice work, very nice!

Hello Joe
Glad you like the build. havn't posted any pictures lately as I've been weathering the boat & building the figures to go with it. Hope to add some more pictures next week when finnished weathering.
As for the plans they come from Coastal Force Plans & cost $25 plus p&p. They were very very good value & extremly helpful.
Most of the work is scratchbuilt as the original kit comes as a very late war version with roll off torpedoes etc. The kit is the Italeri 1/35th scale kit. Very nice kit easy to build & some very nice detail included.
I have some other items on here but the main 1's of interest are the spray shield for the 40mm Bofor's gun on page 5 & the start of the build on page 6.
