This Tyrone Power movie released in 1950 was the first film that was filmed entirely on location in the Philippines. This is the story of ENS. Iliff D. Richardson, Exec of PT 34.
A very interesting boat, substituting for PT 34, is "destroyed" in the first few minutes of the film, quite reminisant of John Wayne's scene in TWE. Since this is 1950, and several PT's were sold in the Philippines at the end of the war, it is possible that this is a real 80' ELCO (with what looks like an enlarged windshield/partial cabin, dayroom looks like it was removed and 2 mock 50 cal gun turrets.aft).
Wouldn't that be cool to know, Major Tyrone Power,USMCR, the ONLY actor to star in two movies about PT's and he had both types of ELCO's in his movies!
Check it out on you tube.
Take care,
TED
