Jeff,

Thanks again for posting these recent photos. I particularly like the one of the 111 and the 112 on board the Tallulah.

Finally, a photo of John Claggett's doomed 111...

Me too Drew. I just noticed a detail on the 111 that has been eluding me for a long time, the pre-radar mast rest:

There are some fittings on the side of the windscreen and hatchway hatch that I can only guess at.

A cropping from a PT 141 photo showing those buttons being used for a canvas extension of some sort. It looks like it is not attached to the hatch but a guess would be it normally would. Another guess is either a windscreen or to funnel air into the engine compartment:

Thank you Dick! Could this qualify as a possible "booby hatch" like the ones in the Higgins drawings you showed me?

I'm not sure, this "Booby Hatch" treatment looks a little disheveled compared to neat tidy package on the Higgins. But what the heck it evidently worked or did it. The booby hatches as I understand were deployed while in port not at full speed like show in your posted photo - the action in the pooh looks like a wide "E" ticket ride.

I tried to find a view from forward but no luck. I did find another aft view of them in the image of PTs 151 through 156 loaded aboard the SS White Plains so the canvas wasn't unique to the 141. This is PT 153, 155 has it also:

While on the subject of unusual canvas, PT 143 with canvas on the forward turret:

Great shot of the 143 and the beehive radar. ( Wonder how Higher-Higher liked the nude on the cockpit.)
