I think the "Torpedoes Away" shot is the 731 boat just before the Russians tool possession of her.

Jeff;
Here is another one;

PT sailors hitting on a Panamanian lady on Toboga Beach. The lady is sitting on a concrete ramp used by the local fisherman to haul their Cayuca's out of the water at the end of the day. The dock in the background shows the 18 foot tidal range that is on the Pacific side, it has a floating section that is tethered to the pilings as this rises and falls with the tide. The 80' ELCO in the background has tubes and a 20mm on the stern so this is 1942-1943.
Take care,
TED

Looks like fishing was a very competitive sport there Ted! Or is it that fishing is really good?

You and Will sure know your PT history.

Jeff;
Fishing is fantastic there!
So is REAL fishing:0) There are about 1600 living on the island and while they have goats and chickens seafood is of course the main staple food. Here are recent photos.

These are views of the current pier area. basically the same location, rebuilt, with same principles..

Up towards the top of the hill looking down on pier and El Morro Island, where the original PT Boat floating pier was for RON 2 and RON 3(2), in 1942, before main pier was built by Seabees in 1943.

Al Capone's Rum Runner Isla Morada, built in 1912 in Massachusetts for J.P. Morgan. Al used this boat to run whiskey and rum from Cuba and the Dominican Republic to Key West

This is the oldest ship(104yrs and counting) to pass through the canal and since it gives weekly tours, it also holds the record for most times through the Canal. She also goes to Toboga, but not as often anymore. I have gotten underway on her 5 times since 1996. Twice to Toboga.

If you guys ever want to go down there and take a tour:http://www.biography.com/news/al-capone-yacht-isla-morada
Take care,
TED
