My father-in-law served on the 63. He was assigned to RON 5 December 9, 1943. I am not certain when he was assigned to the 63 but I suspect that he went aboard in April, 1944 when PT63 joined RON 5. He was with the 63 at the end. Picture of PT63 http://s629.photobucket.com/user/rickas47/media/PT%20Boat/PT107.jpg.html?o=16 I related what little I know of the incident in your other post.
And hoping that you might recognize his photo http://s629.photobucket.com/user/rickas47/media/PT%20Boat/Dad%20Torpedoman1.jpg.html?o=14
I know that he was assigned to PT65 a few days after the fire and stayed with that boat until mid November 1944. Don't know where he was assigned from Nov 44 until Feb 1945 when he rotated back to the states.
Would sure appreciate any additional information that you may add to my understanding of RON 5 or my father-in-laws service.
