Will: Thanksgiving 1943 I was at Lambu Cove, Vella La Vella. We had not had fresh meat all month. An APC brought turkeys and other supplies a couple of days before Thanksgiving and the cooks prepared a great Thanksgiving dinner. We filled our mess kits and ate outside under the coconut trees. Our Squadron medical officer brought out gallons of medical alcohol and mixed with grapefruit juice in big pots on the table. We all filled our canteen cups and enjoyed the only good meal we had had all month. Mr. Smith (squadron commander) posted on the blackboard. "NO PATROLS TONIGHT"

Claire: I cant recall what our cook baked if anything but we have a PT Boater that contributes to this board named Earl Richmond who was a cook aboard 108. He can sure tell you what he cooked and baked. He has some good recipes..
