I'm sure this forum is dead as it hasn't been updated for a few years but the man who created that plaque was my cousin Mr.Peter Intrieri of Chicago, IL. He was a cartoonist for the Chicago tribune post war but also a cartoonist over seas in the Solomon Island. I had papers with picture of him and the squadron in Tulagi and a couple cartoon comic strips about the squadron and daily life in the Solomon's. I believe the plaque was a piece of wood from Kennedy's boat from what I heard. I am wondering what boat he was on as I don't have that information.

Best regards, Michael Intrieri

SHHH we're taking a dirt nap here!

Interesting story about the plaque. JFK was on PT 109 when it was rammed and sunk by a Japanese ship. I suppose a piece of wood could have been found from the wreckage... from whom did you hear that story?

Do you still have the photo and cartoons? I'm sure many here would like to see them.

Hi Gents;
Glad this one came back up, I just came across this, a copywrite catolog for 1966,U.S. Government Printing Office, 1966 lists 2 books : John Fitzgerald Kennedy 1917-1963 35th President of the United States of America,(Episodes in his life), drawn by Peter L.Intrieri and Pictorial layout of motor torpedo boat squadrons. The Solomonm Islands with LT John F. Kennedy and others 1943-1944. Peter L.Intrieri

I found it here:

Go to page 251. I have never head of this book before. Has anyone else?
Take care,

Thanks Pat - I found your inquiry very interesting as I built a model of the PT-61 (1/20 scale, RC operation) as a gunboat. I'm particularly interested in the squadron emblem.

Just for fun (or to make it interesting) I picked a date (January 10, 1944) out for the deck diorama/webpage and listed the crew (from Ted). Your dad's name is in the list. I did this last year.

Hi Pat,
Thank you for posting the photo of your father's pistol packin' mosquito boat badge plaque, three years ago... Definitely a memorable design!
I have restored its colors back to what I believe were the originals, before it yellowed with age,
and added it to my offerings of collectable MTB Squadron mugs. I hope you like it.
