These are some of my father's, Bill Clements (BM2C), photos from WW II. I'll post more over the next few days as I find the time. Dad's time on PT 548 in the South Pacific (Solomon Islands and Philippine Islands) was from April 1944 to April 1945. I couldn't definitively say which photos were from which locale or exactly which months the photos were from. I was able to piece together the names and ratings from notes Dad made on the back of some of the photos and from information Jerry Beardsley (PT-548's Radioman) provided when he visited Dad in 2004 or 2005 (can't remember when). Some of the information may be wrong.

I've put the caption above each photo explaining what I know about it.

This is the first time I've tried to load pictures into a message, so hopefully it works.

PT548-01: Left to Right = Paul Hutton (MoMac), Charley Coffey (MoMac), Fred Hallbom (Cook), Jerry Beardsley (Radioman), Archie Pellegreen (or Pellegrini?, Gunners Mate), Bill Clements (Bosun’s Mate). The top of the original photo was cut-off, thereby cropping the tops of the heads of some of the men. My father had written the names on the back of the photo. You can make out part of the boat’s name, “Devil’s Dozen” just over the head of the first man on the right.

PT548-02: Left to Right = Paul Hutton (MoMac), Charley Coffey (MoMac), Fred Hallbom (Cook), Jerry Beardsley (Radioman), Archie Pellegreen (or Pellegrini?, Gunners Mate), Bob Becchio (MoMac). This is almost identical to picture PT548-1 except with Bob Becchio and my father switching places to take the photo. Jerry Beardsley provided Becchio’s name and rating, but I’m not sure the spelling and rating are accurate. Again, you can make out part of the boat’s name, “Devil’s Dozen” just over the head of the fist man on the right.
 photo PT548-002.jpg

PT548-03: Jerry Beardsley (Radioman). The boat’s name, “Devil’s Dozen”, is clearly visible to Jerry’s right.
 photo PT548-003.jpg

PT548-04: Left to Right = Jerry Beardsley (Radioman) and Bill Clements (Bosun’s Mate). Unfortunately, the original photo was very blurry.
 photo PT548-004.jpg

PT548-05: Left to Right = Paul Hutton (MoMac) and Bill Clements (Bosun’s Mate). You can make out part of the boat’s name, “Devil’s Dozen” just to the right of Hutton.
 photo PT548-005.jpg

PT548-06: Left to Right = Paul Hutton (MoMac), Archie Pellegreen (or Pellegrini?, Gunners Mate) and Charley Coffey (MoMac).
 photo PT548-006.jpg

PT548-07: Poor quality photo. Jerry Beardsley identified the men, left to right, as Anderson (XO), Reed (Skipper) and Sam Ross (2nd Officer). Not 100% sure of the identities, 1st names of the first two men or their ranks.
 photo PT548-007.jpg

PT548-08: Poor quality photo. Jerry Beardsley identified the men, left to right, as Fred Hallbom (Cook), Decatur (no first name, rank, not sure of spelling), Red Hitchcock (no rank, not sure of name or spelling), Jerry Beardsley (Radioman), Schroeder (no first name, rank, not sure of spelling), unknown sailor, Fred Hallbom (Cook), Bill Eckert (Gunners Mate, not sure of name or spelling).
 photo PT548-008.jpg

PT548-09: Left to Right = Charley Coffey (MoMac), Fred Hallbom (Cook) and Bill Clements (Bosun’s Mate). Jerry Beardsley identified the PT tender in the background as the Wachapreague, but I don’t know how that can be verified. This is the same tender appearing in the next six photos. I also do not know the location or date of this set of photos.
 photo PT548-009.jpg

PT548-10 Left to Right = Charley Coffey (MoMac) and Bill Clements (Bosun’s Mate).
 photo PT548-010.jpg

PT548-11: Jerry Beardsley identified the men, left to right, as Decatur (no first name, rank, not sure of spelling), Charley Coffey (MoMac), Fred Hallbom (Cook) and Santucci (squatting down, Jerry Beardsley provided his last name, but not his first, he indicated that his rating was as a Seaman). I’m almost certain that this photo is reversed (that is developed with the negative backwards). All other similar photos with the motor launch and breeches buoy in the background show them to the left, rather than the right side of the photo.
 photo PT548-011.jpg

PT548-12: Bill Clements (Bosun’s Mate).
 photo PT548-012.jpg

PT548-13: Unknown sailor. This may be the boat moored next to PT-548. Notice the motor launch in the background. In the photos taken from PT-548, this launch appears directly behind PT-548, not to its left. Also notice the cut-down shoe the sailor is holding…easier to kick off the feet if you end up in the water.
 photo PT548-013.jpg

PT548-14: Photo from the deck of PT-548 showing a sailor being brought aboard what is likely a PT tender via a breeches buoy from the same motor launch that appears in other photos.
 photo PT548-014.jpg

PT548-15: Paul Hutton (MoMac).

Thanks Dan!
It is always great to see these photos posted. I am glad you took the time to do so. You would be surprised at how many people here are keenly interested in seeing more of these new (to us at least) pictures taken on the PT Boats during the war.
