Hello everyone,
I am looking for any photos of PT-201 (preferably taken during Jan. of 1944).
While researching a veteran, I came across an unpublished memoir he wrote of his experiences during the war. It turns out that he was the personal radio officer to Gen. Mark Clark during the Anzio campaign and later in Austria.
Well this officer wrote that he was given secret clearance to board PT 201 in Jan. of 1944 to install radio equipment, a code machine, and a transmitter with receiver.
On Jan. 28th, while approaching the Anzio beachhead, with Gen. Clark on board, PT 201 was attacked by a friendly vessel. It turns out that this radio officer was crouching beside Clark during the assault!
I am hoping that someone might have a photo of this boat during the Anzio operation. The officer wrote that a gas powered alternator and an antenna was strung from the radar mast to the bow. It would be interesting to see this modification or maybe a photo of the officer.
Thank you,
Artur
