All;
Here is one I haven't seen before

HMS 307(EX PT 49)Underway in Med 1942-1943. It is really amazing how the internet just pops out never scene new stuff every few months. Image how many photos are still in those old boxes in the attic somewhere.
Enjoy!
Take care,
TED

I was always curious on boats like this if they kept our Packard Engines or reverted back to their own engines. Hard to tell but it looks like they kept the armament, although not sure if they added the twin mounts on the deck.They sure went back to the British style torpedo launchers.

That's an interesting pattern, any idea of the colors? Thanks Ted.

Frank, it's a lead pipe cinch that the British kept the Packards, since they used Packards in their own Vosper and Fairmile production, except for very early ones. Packard was the standard Allied MTB engine. Vospers used three, like our PT's and Fairmile D's used four each. They did change some armament on the 77 Elco's they got though, swapping our two twin 50 Browning turrets for a single centerline turret with twin Vickers 50 calibers, a seeming downgrade. Also, they used their own torpedoes and tubes. This might be why they used a centerline turret: because the fixed tubes (Vospers had the same) were set at an angle and maybe the twin turret setup would have prevented the right angle for the tube. Just a theory. The stern 20 and the foredeck guns would not be out of place on a US boat though.

Jeff;
No Way!! I am not falling into that trap again!
As we have seen, the Med produced some wild camo. Ya know now that you mention it, back in 1970 a really crappy movie called "HELL BOATS", with James Franciscus playing RN MTB Officer, Lieutenant Commander Jeffords, R.N.V.R, It was filmed in Malta and had a boat with similar camo in the movie....hmmmm??

Frank;
Mike is correct, they kept the Packards.

Jeff;
Damn! I just watched HELL BOATS on Youtube. Well it wasn't as bad as I remembered, the German boats had the funky camo. I could have done without the love story, witnessed too much of that. Snappy uniforms though, even sandals with Khaki's .....nice.

Wow that is some wild-looking camo- if it weren't for the period, I'd swear that a group of 60's hippies put their artistic abilities to good use. Kinda groovy in black-and white...!
