Dear Forum Members:
I have been contacted about the possibility of a new PT BOAT project that I think will excite many of you here on the forum. Presently PT-486 sits in Kingston, New York just waiting to be restored to her original configurations. I don't have to tell you what a huge understating this would be. At this point everything is in the early talking stages, but I have promised I would do my best too see if their is interest in this project. What I mean by this is are any of you interested in being a part of this Elco project. It is going to take a massive effort to bring her back, and we need volunteers, money, and other sources. I am in contact with those sources that are hoping to get this project started. Please let me know if you would be interested in being a volunteer. Contact me by E-Mail and we can talk. To me it is an exciting time just thinking that an Elco would take her place among those Higgins boats already restored..........

Hi Frank, from the photos she looks in pretty good shape on the outside but I notice those photos are dated 2002. I wonder what shape she is in now and who are the sources that would like to start the project. I thought Iannucci still owned her but those photos do not look Kingston, NY, more like the Jersey shore. His place is next to my grandfathers old marina followed by the Kingston Powerboat Assoc. Can you supply a bit more detailed info on this idea.

Does Mr Ianucci still own the 486 boat? Doesnt he have a collection of old PT Boats? It sure would be great to see them all restored! I wonder if Captain Whyte and Tim Ivory are still involved with the Fleet Obsolete group? They are a great bunch.

At this point to answer your question, the 486 is located in Kingston and yes, the boat is still owned by Innannuci. Everything is in the early stages of talk right now, but it is at least being talked about, the interest to restore the 486 is there. If anyone wants to be considered to help out in any way possible, please E mail me. I don't have to tell you how huge of an undertaking this would be. Right now I am taking names and contact information to be used down the road should this project move forward.

Thanks Jerry, I would hope that you won't mind if I pick your brain when and if the time comes.

With a project of this magnitude any and all help is needed. You don't have to be right in Kingston NY to jump on board. Right now I have taken about 6 names of those who are interested in helping in any way they can. I am in hopes that my friends here on the Forum might also step up to the plate. Tons of things can be done from your own Computer, and it would be great to get someone with knowledge for Newsletters, and or anything else that would get the word out about this project. Ted, i know you are in, as we have talked.

Frank, I'm wondering who will retain ownership of the boat if and after a boat load of money and work is put into her and where will she be displayed for the public to board and see?

I am planning to meet with those people in Kingston in the coming weeks to sit down and see where this is going. My main purpose is to come up with a Mission statement, or business plan. I hope to have those answers for all of you soon.
