Was just watching "PT-109" for the umpteenth time tonight, historical inaccuracies and all, but as always found myself drawn to the remarkable deck, weaponry, and topsides modifications performed on the crash rescue boats that were used in the film.
It begs the question, though- does anyone here at the board know whatever became of those boats after they left service? I t would be interesting to know.
Thanks!

Randy;
Sorry to be so short but......nope! It seems after the movie the boats disappeared back into the wood work.
Take care

Randy,
I think one of the three "PT 109" movie boats was converted into a sightseeing boat, with beam-to-beam rows of seats on her foredeck and behind the cockpit to the stern.
I've seen a color (postcard?) photograph of that boat, which has a large "PT 109" shaded naval number on her bow and large "Sinn's Dock" lettering on her hull, at speed at sea, with passengers packed in her rows of seats. Somebody on the Forum will probably have access to that photo and will hopefully post it here.
If you shoot me your email address, I can send you a Miami Herald b&w port stern oblique photo of one of the movie boats (marked "109") from 1962, on the Miami River on her way to the Keys for filming.
