Hi Andy,
It would be terrific to see your Dad's photos from his time in service. Would you mind posting them for us to see?
Thanks
Dave

Andy;
WELCOME to the forum! Please if you could post your photos here, RON 12 PT 195, PT 196, and Rumsey Ewing's PT 191 have always been of interest to me, and many more on the forum. There is a connected photobucket account.
Take care,
TED

Hi, Andy,
Welcome. I would be very interested to see your photos, thank you for the offer. There are many educated guesses on the model due to lack of photographic evidence. A chance to get it correct would be most welcome.
Best Regards,
Stu.

Your work Stu is simply stunning. I look at these photos of the amazing amount of detail you are doing and I get that anxious feeling in my stomach thinking about all the stuff I have left out or over looked on mine. What ever I have left of my finger nails will be gone in anticipation of seeing this beauty painted in modulated greens and how you are going to approach the waterline issue. I have left my hulls intact and plan on cutting exact sized holes in the 1" foam base of the "Reunion" Then I can simply place the boats in these holes or remove them for static display. The issue is the water. The best thing I have come up with so far is very thin plexiglass but that is going to be murder to cut to the exact shape I need to lower the hulls into the "hole in the water".
Can't wait to see the colors you choose.

Roy,
Thanks. I am taking it slowly just in case any mistakes come to light.
I don't know how the water will turn out yet, I am just winging it. The boat will be at anchor. There is no way I could make a wake convincing in this scale and the area of the base would be huge. I will not cut off the bottom, just put it into a deep frame.
Best Regards,
Stu.

Stu sent me an update. I was very impressed with Daniele's spotting and identifying a factory part on the early series Elco 80's that I didn't know existed, torpedo loading cradle support pads. Here's the update, nice modeling work as always Stu:
Mini-update.
Jeff put me in contact with a modeller in Switzerland, Daniele Klay, who is building a 1/16 scale PT 195 using Dick Washichek's Elco drawing DVD. He pointed out to me that the 195 was fitted with a stanchion circle around the forward gun platform.
This was confirmed with a photograph which I am familiar with but never noticed the detail. Ted Walther also confirmed that what we were seeing was correct, so I added the deck sockets and eyelets. I originally removed the port side inner sockets but re-instated them as I guessed that the factory fitted items would likely have been left in place.
Another detail Daniele researched that I had missed were the torpedo loading cradle support pads. I have seen these in photographs but wasn’t sure what they were. I have now added these. There are photos of later boats that have a slightly different style but I have gone with the original drawings.
Thanks to Daniele, Ted and Jeff for your help.

Here are the picture that I have. One is my dad sitting in a ELCO Thunderbolt Quad 20 that he said they replace the 40mm with at the end of the war.

Evidently the photos didn't post correctly. Are there instructions for posting photos anywhere? I used the image tags, but I must have done something wrong.
Thanks.
