Jeff, Wayne, Chip and I did some extra research on these, we added a more personal touch and here is what we came up with. All crew names are actual, as per the late CAPT Ken Prescott, RON 3(2) muster rolls and PT 61 logbook records. Enjoy!

For my small part, thanks Will! Perfect timing on the jungle shower shot eh? No naughty bits to be seen.

For anyone wanting Wayne's original scans, they can be downloaded from Dick's server here:
http://www.pt103.gdinc.com/PT61/PT_61_Color_Photos_1943_Original_Scans.zip

They are about 21MB so may take some time to download. Smaller versions (900px width, about 1.2MB) can be downloaded here:

So for the sake of argument, do you figure the 48 boat is to the 61's port and the 109 to starboard in all of the photos?

YES.
The 48 and John Iles is noted in one of the descriptions, I didn't note the other boat on purpose, I know what boat it is and so do you guys. Ken and John were both very humble and honorable gentleman, they were not caught up in the JFK thing that cropped up after the war,( you know the 4 man tent he lived in but had 32 tent mates thing and the crew of 150 and guys in the same Squadron numbering 1000 men, even JFK joked about it). They both called him friend because he was a fellow officer that operated with both of them. When both identify the same boat moored next to them, I believe them both, not only because I want to, but because everything they wrote me over the years was 100% accurate.
Take care,
TED

P.S. In fact, the only place JFK had a lot of "Roommates" was AT Searlesville, because the Lever Brothers Plantation House was actually the Officers Quarters. but, this was used mostly by RON 3(2) officers. You never read anything about this Plantation House in any JFK stories. Tomorrow, I will scan a photo of the house Ken sent me.

Ted and Wayne,
Thanks for taking the time to add the titles to these wonderful color photos. I'm sure I'm not the only one who will treasure them always.

The word of 2 gentlemen, and your research finding the 109 to be the only operational boat in the area at the time to back them up, convinced me Ted.

I also see the 109 has no mast at the time the photo was taken. It's not up, and if it was down you'd be able to see at least the yardarm. It makes sense, get rid of a useless trip hazard and a little weight. And I'd guess they had an idea new radar masts were coming anyways. It's not solid proof that it wasn't on her when she sunk but it would be my guess.

All;
Here are prints of the two other original Kodachrome slides Ken sent me to duplicate, both are duplicated in his book, but are printed in Black and White.
Take care,
TED
