The current (May 2015) issue of Fine Scale Modeler magazine has a notice on their New Products - Ships page of the Merit "U.S. Navy Elco 80' PT Boat, early type" with a photo of the box top.
The box art has the boat rendered in green (but what shade?) and listed at $93.00 retail.
Yikes! Too rich for my blood, but I'd like to eventually see someone's buildup of this kit.

I think Stan Pienkowski did this as PT-580.

Will,
Stan would've used the initial Merit "U.S. Navy Elco 80' Motor Patrol Torpedo Boat Late Type" for a PT 580 build, not this new PT 103-class kit, right?
The kit review of the initial Merit late-war 80' Elco on YouTube shows it to have excellently-rendered parts, and I'd expect the same for the new 103-class boat. But, at almost $100 for a boat not that much bigger than the old 1/72nd scale Revell PT 109...
