Is it too much to ask????? I have been searching for several years for a boat I heard a rumor about. another boat that was last mentioned in 1995, in a interview that I thought was just BS. If this is it, it would explain how nobody in Florida can tell me anything about it after the late 1970's. But there were also two RN survivors that were given to the Italian Navy then the Italian Carabinieri into the late 1950"s. Strange how the specs are similar, but no manufacturer is mentioned. But if the size stated is correct.......

Take care,
TED

They added 6.5 feet to the hull? Or is the length listed incorrect?
Take care,
TED

Hi,
It is listed as 23.6 metres in length, which is about 77.5 feet give or take.

Best Regards,
Stu.

Stu;
Yes, the Croix Du Sud (Southern Cross) is listed as 77 feet, not 71.5 feet which is how long a BPB MTB was. I wonder if Christian can find out if they added 6.5 feet to the stern, or it is just an incorrect item in the description. I wrote the dealer in Holland, but I am still waiting for their answer.
Take care,
TED

Hi Ted

Sorry to not give more info at this stage my computer crashed and I am still trying to recover my files, suffice to say I discussed this boat with Phil Simons some years ago and I definitely recall her as being a BPB 71.5ft MTB (modified, with lengthened sections aft) possibly one of the later builds i.e. a Proud Class FPB. I will be sure to come back and confirm any further details as soon as I can.

Regards,
Christian.

Christian:
Thanks. I looked at the shape of the hull and began suffering from a case of "wishful thinking".
Thanks again.
Take care,
TED
P.S. Since your over on that side of the pond, when you get your computer up, can you give a fitrep on S-130 (Raven) and how Kevin is doing with the restoration?

Well Ted seeing as you seem to have a few extra dollars in the kitty she would be a fine start to a restoration project. Shame about the fine internal timberwork that would have to be removed to return her to her former glory!
Aaah but one can dream can't one!

Christian;
Thanks for the update. I wonder if Kevin has looked for some donations in Germany, such as Bundesmarine ( German Navy), to preserve the legacy of the Schnellbootwaffe and since it was Vice Admiral Hans-Helmut Klose, who actually used S-130 the longest and is the one who is really responsible for her surviving so long, it would be a fitting tribute to him, Kapitänleutnant Günter Rabe(CO S130, 9th S Boot Flott.) and all Schnellboote veterans. Such as U-995 in Kiel is a tribute to the Unterseebootwaffe.
Thanks.
Take care,
TED
