I realize this subject has been discussed many times on many websites and I am curious as to what some of the members here think. I am a newbie here and have just started the 1/35 scale Italeri “109” kit. I use primarily Tamiya paints and am able to do precise mixes using my company’s finishing spectrometer and gloss factor reader, ( we extrude and paint over 100 million lbs a year and our equipment is state of the art)
Thank you

Check this thread Mike, it shows Kodachrome color photos of a mid-1943 PT 48 and 61 taken by Ken Prescott:
http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?fid=102&cid=101&tid=3694&pg=2&sc=20&x=0
PT 48 is the green boat. I wouldn't worry too much about an exact match, a slightly dark green like a tropical leaf in the shade is my take on it. The big decision will be if you plan on weathering it, as you can see on PT 61 the paints faded a lot in the tropical sun.
To quote 2 veterans on the color of the green PTs:
Jack Duncan: they were GREEN.
Ken Prescott, in a letter to Ted Walther: we did not want our boat bright (it seemed) green!.
Ken and crew mixed up their own color for PT 61 as seen in the photos.

There were a number of greens in use at that time, including one that was a mixture of 4 parts zinc chromate to one part Blue Tinting Material (5TM). Snyder and Short/White Ensign Models puts out a series of matched chips for these greens, as well as tinlets of paint. Tracy White http://www.researcheratlarge.com has published a number of extremely useful memos on camouflage on his site.

Thanks for that link to Tracy's research, Dr. Ross.
The sheet that depicts "Measure 31, Design 5P" has three paint chips of "MTB Green," "5-NG (Navy Green)," and "20-G (Deck Green)," which seem very color-correct on my computer monitor, and should pretty much display for all time what shades of green were used on Pacific PTs.
At least it does for me.

Well, to a point but there were other greens used, as well. At a minimum, OCEAN GREEN (5-O), GREEN2, and GREEN3 were components of several Measures, including 31/5P and 31/20L.

Thanks to all,
I think I will go with the bluish green and weather it down a bit.
