| One more thought Ted. That guy without the broom could be Welford West taking a reading with his lead-line on the bow of the 157 as they approach Olasana. Wish I had thought of that when I did the 157 for the trip to NC last year. |

Not too crazy about the "PT 109" figures, but I guess they'll have their uses for those who want to model docked or moored boats at bases. I would have preferred helmeted and kapoked twin-.50 turret and 20-mm gunners, torpedomen with mallets, cockpit crew, maybe a guy crouching by the foredeck-mounted 37 millimeter gun, etc.
And if they had to have gone in for figures in non-combat poses -- which they did -- at least they could have included a bare-chested figure with sunglasses and a fatigue cap on the back of its head! But they did include one of the figures -- the guy sitting down -- with one of those fatigue caps the PT guys used to wear a lot, and there seems to be a fatigue cap, as well as a "Daisy Mae" hat, among the loose pieces in the set, so...I know Italeri tried to do a good job.
The two visor-capped officer figures reminded me of photos of Dick Keresey and his fellow boat skippers and execs from his book "PT 105." I guess the sunglassed figure at the extreme left is supposed to represent JFK.
If I ever get my Italeri PT 109 built, it'll be crewed by the combat patrol-dressed "PT 598" figures, which I happened to score at a decent, less-than-retail price off Ebay years ago.
I'll most definitely send Italeri my suggestion for their next 1/35 scale model kit, though -- a PT 45-68 class 77' Elco boat with extra parts to make a PT 59/60/61 gunboat.
