Frank and all;
While researching some more on Kirksey, I wondered why Marney's name was not showing up in the RON 2 muster rolls,
Now I know why. Marney and also TM2/C Ray Starkey were not members of RON 2 as thought, they were in RON 9! The July 31, 1943 RON 9 muster rolls -report of changes, reads Marney and Starkey were both advanced in rate effective 1 July 1943, and guess who was advanced to RM2/C the same day....Pat Rodgers!

RON 9 muster rolls-report of changes reflects Marney missing in action on 9 Aug 1943, Starkey transferred to CUB TWO Hosp. Unit Adv. Base Tulagi on 9 Aug 1943 and released on 20 Aug 43. Unfortunately, the documents do not say what RON 9 boats they were originally on. Maybe PT 153 or PT 158, since both were lost on 4 and 5 July 1943.
Take care,
TED

Frank;
Thanks, then Marney worked for Boats Newberry for awhile, since Boats was "COB" on PT 155. Yes I did notice in the documents that he had enlisted early, 4 Nov 1941 I have no reference he was assigned to RON 5, yet. if he was it was not for long, I will keep looking. I wonder what boat Raymond Starkey was assigned to?

Ted, records indicate that both Marney and Starkey rode on PT-155, as was related to me by a letter sent out by Boats Newberry................
