Just recieved very sad news that Chuck Kellogg, one of the real shakers and movers of the PT 658 in Portland passed away yesterday. His vehicle was struck by an Amtrak train as he was crossing a private RR crossing on his way home. We met and had the pleasure of spending some time with Chuck a few years ago during a visit to the PT 658. He was a wonderful guy and really made my wife and I feel welcome. Our prayers for Chuck and his family during this difficult time.

Yes,
We are all in a state of shock. No word on the funeral yet. I had just had breakfast with him at the Overlook on Saturday morning. I gave him a gentle ribbing too. I am still having trouble believing it.

Jerry, sorry for your loss. What a way to finish your life, working on something so important to you as a young man... and doing it for fun. He was very fortunate I would say. All the best to you and your 658 family.

Dear Jerry,
Jack notified us about the accident. We were so sorry to hear about it.
What a shock for all of you. When we visited you and the crew of the 658 this June, it was evident that you guy's are like family and I am so sorry for your loss. I read his obituary and I see the funeral is today.
Our Sincere condolences to his family and the crew of the 658

Julie, Thanks to all of you.
Chucks funeral at the Williamette National Cemetary went really well. It was a beautiful day, Dick Ackroyd played the bagpipes, the Patriot Guard Motorcycles Honor Guard was there, and the Navy and the Army gave a 21 gun salute. Captain Paul Dombrowski USN and the US Navy Honor Guard folded the flag and presented it to Trish. We dont know how we can replace Chuck. He was really our Skipper in every sense of the word. He will be greatly missed.
PS Chuck served in the US Army during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged
