Just came to my attention about this man who was the first and only American Coast Watcher who worked in the Bush. Nash spent 26 months behind enemy lines and was awarded the Legion of Merit, 2 Presidential Unit Citations, and the King Gorge Medal from Britain for his work. His work was in the Solomon's and New Guinea area. In Walter Lord's book, "Lonely Vigil, there is a piece in there that says, Sir Reginald Evans and his assistant Benjamin Nash witnessed the explosion from PT-109. Nash died in 2005 and has seven children. I wonder if anyone on the board has heard of this man, and I wonder why he is never mentioned in the history of PT-109. Being American you would think he would have gotten his due, as did Evans. Also just curious, are there any South Pacific Coast Watchers alive today? By the way, I never heard of Nash until this afternoon.

Hi Frank.
I read your information about Ben Nash with great interest. I typed in COAST WACHER
WW II to internet and found a lot of information including Ben Nash. One video
shows pictures of a few coast watchers (I think) without captions for some reason. This may
be of interest to you.
