Have you gentlemen been interviewed for the Library of Congress' Veterans History Project? If not, I would highly recommend it. From my limited reading of your posts on this forum, you (and others) have extraordinary knowledge of WW II that should be captured and recorded for all time. For this project, last Sunday, I interviewed my son's girlfriend's 94 year- old grandfather, who was an electrician's mate during WW II. He spent most of his time on the USS Hughes (DD 410). The Hughes was involved in some epic operations, including the Battle of Midway, screening the USS Yorktown and picking up survivors of the Yorktown after she was sunk by a Japanese sub. She later participated in the battle of Guadalcanal screening the USS Hornet. The gentleman was still "sharp as a tack" and had some amazing memories of his service during WW II.

Hi Earl, so easy to just talk into a digital recorder, and you can tell your whole story. Nice to hear from you Earl as always.

Mr. Willis, you wrote, "Lots of PT Boaters with better stories than mine." I beg to differ, sir! The Library of Congress is seeking to get everyone's story, not just those who were "heros," Navy Cross winners etc. It's really not that difficult. Speaking into a tape recorder or a video camera is all that is needed. If a relative or friend is willing to interview you for the Project, I would be happy to send them questions and direct them/you to the Veteran's Project website, which contains lots of helpful information.

Regards,

C.J. your story is as vital as any other PT BOAT VET that served on a PT BOAT, BASE, or TENDER. In fact, I have your complete story that you sent to me a few years back, and I found it to be wonderful reading. You are a member of the greatest generation and thus your story should be told to the countless young people that will be the next generation. Guys like you are my Heroes CJ...................

Shep;
That's a good idea, I did a quick search and there is quite a nice selection of PT Veterans.
Take care,
TED

Thanks, Ted, I think it's just a matter of getting someone (relative, friend, etc.) who live near the PT vets to conduct the interviews. As I mentioned, the website for Library of Congress' Veterans History Project has all the information and paperwork that is needed for the interview and how it should be conducted and submitted. As much as it saddens me to say, time is not on our side. We lose many WW II vets every day.
