Thanks!
But don't confuse "fast" (which I'm not) with "spent a whole lot of time in design to make this part easier, then spent every daylight hour (and a few in the night) over the past weekend putting the bits together".
Some people might prefer to "have a life"! ;-)

Beautiful Work Patrick!
Is the framing out of 1/8" Baltic Ply? Really like your frame jig to help keep the hull true. I've had a tough time with 1/8" ply due to the warping of the material, but it looks like you've licked that issue.
Thanks for keeping us posted.
Cheers,
Andy Small

I think you modelers are truly remarkable. Don't you have wives and childrren and a job to take care of? |

Andy-
Yes, 1/8” hobby plywood, and no need for the super expensive 5 ply stuff. When working with plywood, my counsel is:
>> Never count on plywood’s flatness, and in fact, count on it to be warped.
>> Instead, use the thinnest plywood you can, and shape it with strongbacks, or in this case, tabbed fixturing.
If/when I create a 1:35 scale version, I’ll use 1/16” ply…
BTW, I keep a more complete build log at the RC Groups forum:

Pat-
Wife, yes, but she appreciates that this keeps me off the streets (but not always out of bars, these builds can drive you to drink!). Child has long since moved out, and job? Oh, I take care of that in my spare time…

Pat;
I was reading through the posts you have on R/C forum, while LT Henry Robert Montgomery RON 2 and RON 5, might have gone for a ride on PT 48 at sometime during her service life, He was never Skipper of this boat. If you would like I can e-mail you a list I have compiled of her Skippers and Execs from 9/15/41 until she was shipped back in Aug 1944.
Keep up the good work!
Take care,

Thanks, and yes I meant to fix that! I conflated him with (iirc) Alan R. Montgomery...

Pat:
LCDR Alan "Monty" Montgomery was Squadron Commander of RON 4, RON 2 and RON 3(2), and later Miami Shakedown. While he was not Skipper of a boat at the time of RON 3(2)'s deployment, His usual boat was PT 60, commanded by Jack Searles. until it was damaged that first night, then he rode other boats, until relieved by his squadron XO Hugh "Robbie" Robinson. In the first combat action at Tulagi (Oct 14, 1942), he rode 60, and was accompanied by PT 38, PT 46, PT 48.

I'm no stranger to 3D printing, but it's always a thrill to get some new parts in the mail.
Just received my 1:24 scale Mk 18 torpedo tube parts today. The body of the tube will be machined from plastic pipe, but these bits will provide all the detail.
Breech door and tube supports:
