As mentioned below, I'm working on a new 77, a late model in 1:24 scale. The hull will use laser cut wood frames and wood planking, pretty typical... but the cabin and many details will be 3D prints. Doing the cabin in 3DP allows for a precision fit to my deck, inclusion of lots of details, and all mounting points defined... much like a good injected molded kit part.
Now, while this model is 1:24, I can see redeveloping it for 1:35 for anyone needing to fill out their 1:35 torpedo boat collection. Hmmm... could even make use of some existing Italeri fittings... But the cost difference? Not unlike the difference between injected molded models and low volume cast resin model ships... but also, not unaffordable...
Hope to have some pics of actual parts within the month, will post.
Laser cut frames are precisely located on a laser cut build board; the mounting tabs get cut off after the hull is planked.

But wait! you say, thinking all the 3DP parts you've seen off of cheap table top printers look like garbage, or at least no better than wicker chairs for a Barbie doll..."How can you make a decent model with 3D Printing?"
Well, I use high end industrial printers that have more zeroes in their price tags than you or I could ever consider. It really doesn't pay to have your own printer- affordable units ARE junk, and they go obsolete quickly. Better to send your CAD model to someone who has the good stuff.
Anyway, here are two models I built with such techniques; both are about 26 inches long. Both are almost entirely 3D printed- with the exception of things like halyards and flags. I've even used the process to make waxes for investment casting of brass parts, like the nickel plated vents and the fire monitors on the seaplane tender.
Pan American seaplane tender, 1:16 scale
Canadian Coast Guard MSPV, 1:72 scale

Very impressive Patrick, I can see something like this taking off for those model builders on this site. I know if I were a model builder I would be very excited to see this type of build. Sorry, I don't build them, I just display them in the Exhibit...........

Very very nice Pat, I'm really looking forward to seeing your Elco 77'.
The finished models are gorgeous. And that Canadian police boat is downright sexy.

Pretty neat, Pat. I think the folks at Italeri should really take a gander at your work...
And...maybe you could CAD a PT 59/60/61 "Gunboat" in your spare time?

I just returned from the International Plastic Modelers Society (IPMS) show in Hampton, VA. There were several companies there selling 3D printing. One was selling 1/350 and 1/700 printed models. Another was printing high resolution from people's drawings or if you showed them what you wanted printed they would do the work. This is definitely the future of modeling. Oops.. it's here now! :-)

Have to make a hull so as to have something to attach that fancy cabin to. Think I'll go cut some frames out...

I understand the hull is plank on frame. But you can cast the deck cabins, gun tubs,, etc? That would be awesome.
