I recently came across some period written letters from a PT boat 2nd officer. The letters are from October 1942 through July 43 and tell of all his raids from that period. The officer states that he joined RON 24 when he arrived at Calvertville he states " boats unloaded Noumea, 1st sortee to Epiroto Santo and Tulagi.. First mission destroyed two Jap supply ships. Straffed by jap plane on 16 Nov". My question is, Ron 24 was not activated until May of 43. Could he have joined RON 24 and taken place in the raids he describes prior to activation of RON24? Thanks etousa

Welcome aboard! May I ask what is the name of the gentleman who wrote the letters?
Take care,

Ted,
I wish I could read the signature, I would be happy to send you scans of the letter if you would be interested. I would really like to figure this out.
Thanks,
