Greetings from Portland! I would like to share with you some photos from this last Saturday June 28th 2014, when we helped PT181 veteran Bob Jackson MoMM2/c celebrate his 90th Birthday with his family on board the PT658. We took him and his family, and one of our few remaining PT veteran volunteers, MoMM1/c Bud Case PT168 out on a short trip on the Williamette River, and then we had cake and champagne! A great time was had by all, and we even re-created a vintage photo of the crew of PT181 on board the PT658 with Bob's family standing in for the crew in the same positions as the original photo. Here are some good pictures, I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I did taking them! Jerry

It looks like you and Bob and crew had a fun time Jerry! Thanks for giving him the royal treatment, and for sharing the photos with us. The group shot is priceless!

That was really nice Jerry. Looks like everyone had an outstanding time. We hope to get back up there next year and check out your new digs. Is there a location at your new home where I can get right down to the water ? I would love to bring up the 623 and film the 658 from the deck of the 623.

Thanks you guys.
Roy, yes there are several places you can launch your boat, most common would be just across the lagoon at the public boat ramp. Or if you can hand carry it you could launch it just outside our boathouse from the barge and the catwalk around the outside of the boathouse. I am guessing it is too big to hand carry? Whatever it is we can make it work! Hope to see you soon.

She is 5 feet long but the issue is the weight. When we take her on a mission we can back the Suburban right down to the water and I only have to carry her about 20 feet. If I can get the truck within 50 feet or so of the water and have a way to walk right into the water, that would be perfect.

Nice work Jerry! That boat is like Field of Dreams. If you build it they will come, and they do. It must be great fun to meet all these PT vets.
It took me a few minutes before I realized the 181 bow photo was a mirror image.

Hi Dave,
Wow I had not noticed that the aft 50 cal gun tub is on the wrong side! That was the way i recieved the image. I can flip it around in photoshop and repost. Thanks for the sharp eyes! Jerry

Jerry,
What initially caught my attention was the vowel vent coming up from just above the deck next to the chart house. Then I started comparing the .50's on the crew photo and said "ah... something's not right". :-) I flipped it around and saved it for my collection. If you have any issues I'll be happy to send it to you but I trust you'll have no trouble. That's a great looking old boat. I really appreciate you sharing this with us.

Great photos of what had to be a great time by all onboard. Such special times for families. Glad you were able to come up with a few photos of PT-181...................
