Can anyone confirm that due to the prop forces walking the stern to the right when running straight, PTs had to apply a little bit of right rudder to stay on course?
Any addition info or experience with this?
Thanks!

Andy;
Due to the sea state and currents, constant course correction is always required.

We always have to give her a small amount of right rudder to keep the PT658 in a straight course. Also, the two rudders have small "trim tabs" on them on their trailing edge to help neutralize this effect. The walking effect is more apparent the faster the wheels are turning. In practice, you pick a heading and adjust rudders accordingly to compensate for when the boat starts to drift off course. I was doing this very thing just last week so it is fresh in my mind. Jerry
