I don't recall having seen these before, 2 drawings of the 5.0-inch Rocket Launchers Mark 50 Mod 0 and Mod 1 on the hnsa site. They give dimensional info. As far as I can tell the Mod 0 & 1 are the same drawing, hit the next page link to see all 4 pages: http://hnsa.org/doc/launchers/cat-0165.htm.

Tracy White has a nice page up on the similar Type 49 launcher: http://www.researcheratlarge.com/Ord/RocketLauncherMk49/

One thing to mention, that I missed at first, was that the doc I posted was for the "California Institute of Technology Rocket Launcher Mk 49" and not a USN Mk 49. Maybe some elements carried over, but I'd be hesitant to use it as a source for Mk 50 details unless all other resources are exhausted.

Hi Jeff and Tracy,
Yes this was the exact document (the one on the HNSA) that we used to fabricate a facimile of the Mark 50 rocket launchers that we installed onto the PT658. We even had our metal shop make the heavy duty base plate per those dimensions. The only thing we are still needing to install is the elevation gear and crank handle. The HNSA website sure does come in handy for use as a ready reference. If we had access to the info that Tracy added we can still use that to further modify the 658. Especially the Rocket Launching Firing Panel (specifically Firing Panel, Mark 13, Mod 1 or Mod 2). If there is anybody out there that knows where we can obtain a rocket launcher control box, please let me know! Thanks Jerry

Hey Jerry, if you want high-resolution scans of anything I've got, let me know.

Thanks Tracy,
I mis-spoke. What I meant to say was that by the time I saw your excellent materials, we had already designed and built the rocket launchers. But now that it is available, I can use what you posted to "fine tune" our display in the future. I like how your info has a lot of details that are not seen on the other drawings. I suppose all I need is your official permission to use what you have already posted. Thanks again for your offer.
Jerry

Hey Jerry, sorry for the delay. I was at NARA all last week.

What I meant was that if the high-quality scans would be of any use to you even as a print-out for future reference or period piece, I'll forward it free of charge, blah blah. Least I can do to help...
