Hi Christian!
My friend from New Jersey, Joe Reese went to the Flanagan Brothers boatyard in Fairton New Jersey back in April 2012 and took some photos of the PT3. He posted these photos onto the NAVSOURCE website.

Here is the link. http://www.navsource.org/archives/12/05003.htm

The boat in is pretty rough shape. It does not look like there are any engines inside of the hulk. It would be a very large undertaking for any group, and they would have to pretty much start from scratch. I would be really surprised if you could find enough people who would be willing to invest their time and money into this boat, since it was one of only 2 built by Fisher Boat Works and there is not a lot of interested people who have links to the boat around anymore. Just my 2c! Jerry

If you go on Google Earth, you can get a panoramic view of her. She's only a couple feet off the street.

What are the 4 stacked canisters at the stern? I'm guessing that the canisters on top of the torpedo tubes are for compressed air to launch the torpedoes. Am I even close? This photo: http://www.navsource.org/archives/12/120500322.jpg

Back when she still was able to float. Around the time when my wife broke her neck Alyce called m to ask if I could help the owner get her floating and safe again. A bunch of kids I guess untied her from the dock she drifted out and rested on an old piling puncturing a hole in her. Needless to say I could not get away at that time. This was around 2000

Hi Rick,
Those 4 stacked cannisters on the stern are one of the old style smoke generators. In the HNSA website there is a Tech manual for it, called ORDNANCE PAMPHLET No. 1042. SHIPS CHEMICAL SMOKE MUNITIONS. A description of the smoke generator labeled "Mark 1 Mod 1-Smoke Screen Generator" follows: "The Mark 1 Smoke Screen Generator is composed of four 35-gallon Mark 1 smoke screen tanks, which are mounted as a single unit, as shown in Figure 1. Each tank has its own pressure line, exhaust tube, and nozzles. The complete unit of four tanks can be immediately jettisoned, either locally by pulling the manual emergency release lever, or remotely by a quick operating air valve. The tanks are designed for operation at pressures ranging up to 150 pounds per square inch." It uses FS type Smoke chemicals, which are described below:
"FS is a solution of sulfur trioxide in the liquid chlorosulfonic acid. It is a very corrosive, heavy, fuming liquid, and weighs about 16 pounds per gallon. In contact with air it reacts with the moisture present to form a mixture of sulfuric and hydrochloric acid mist. Not only the smoke mixture, but also the smoke is corrosive."

I hope that answers your questions. Jerry

All information has been passed on to Ed PATRICK from Liberty Aviation Museum, with all contact names and numbers. I had a conversation with the boat yard and the man who owns the boat. At last conversation with Ed, he was going to get in touch with them for possible restoration...........................
