Cool Teawby, thank you for sharing! Can you give us some history of the boats?

Too bad Jerry doesn't look as good straddling a torpedo as Therese, donations to PT 658 would be pouring in!

I used google translate

Motor torpedo boat T56 was built in 1957 at Stockholm's naval shipyards in Djurgården , opposite Strandvägen which was subcontracted to Kockums in Malmö. Kockums were the main suppliers of motor torpedo boats in the T42 series, namely T42 - T56 and built in the years 1956-1959 . Four mtb, T53 - T56 , construction and delivery of the subcontractor Mari workshops in Stockholm .

To improve engine performance torpedo boats in rough so let it last vessel in the series T32 , T41 , have a different hull shape with a V-bottom and without steps. Although this meant the top speed was not as high as that of their predecessors but rebuilding was nonetheless so successful that it was decided to construct T42 Series V-bottom . With its V-bottom , they represented the most developed and modern by the Swedish motor torpedo boats.

Jetting and motor assembly retained substantially equal to two 53 cm torpedoes, a 40mm cannon and three Isotta - Fraschini 184.

The T42 series was used IF 184 of 1500 hp / piece. This engine had some qualities that are desired to improve. To avoid the carburetor and cruising gear so developed a new type of engine with fuel injection , CRM 185, which had an output of 1800 hp . This type of engine along with hydraulic gearbox mounted in the T48 which gave her a top speed of 49 knots fully loaded and equipment.

Swedish Navy bought only six CRM 185 engines but the engine type instead became standard in the Italian Navy.

Curt Borgenstam worked during the years 1959-1962 as a consultant at CRM. Then developed a diesel version that also became marketable in the civilian market . The diesel engines are built on the same block as the gasoline engines and similar in appearance.

T56 was bought in 1985 by an engineering Ekerö where she was during the years 1985 to 2003 was in a vassrugg . The interior was then largely preserved in its original state but the port and starboard main engine had been replaced by Scania diesels giving her a cruising speed of about 13 knots. The main machine in the center was left but not used. Torpedo tubes and automatic gun was missing , of course , the paint had flaked off and some leaks were found in the hull but the basic conditions to rescue the ship was still and a collection of enthusiasts got together and formed a foundation that bought out the ship.

On 17 May 2003 the T56 back to Gålöbasen

The renovation of the ship were taken immediately and in the summer of 2003 blasted T56 and ground was painted several times and also had her camouflage painting.

T56 became quite clear once again in August 2007.

Ohh yes, we are true enthusiasts!

Here is another ship we have in our "flotilla" and all boats are privately owned.

Thanks so much for sharing these Video's, the boats look great. Thanks for making them clickable Dick, sure makes things easier. I can't help but go back in my mind when I see these boats, and think about the WWII PT BOATS running in formation. These are the types of Video's I keep bugging Jerry about doing for the HIGGINS BOAT. I would love to see her from a chase boat, I think it's time Roy went down there and started doing some filming of her.

OK FRANK I am confused!
Roy lives south of me but at a higher elevation. Conventional wisdom says you go UP North and DOWN South. (Conversely in the Continental US, the East/West coast descriptors are OUT West and BACK East) Unless you mean he is going Down to a lower elevation. OK Frank which one is it? I need you to be more specific! To be correct you should say "Roy should go UP and OUT there to Portland" I think he already has a standing invitation. I think I must need to come BACK East and smack you around Frank. Maybe you could finally come OUT West to Portland and ride the boat at the same time as Roy? Jerry
