I was wondering if they were oriented a certain way but was thining about access ports. I never thought about the fins because I figured once they went to roll-off racks, it didn't matter because these torpedoes would right themselves and were not suseptable to tumbling the gyros like the tube mounted units.
Thanks.

THE ORENTATION OF THE TORPEDO IN ITS RACK IS WELL DISPLAYED IN THE MUSEUM SHOT. THE STARTER TOGGLE PLATE WAS LOCATED IN FRONT OF THE TOP VERTICAL FIN.
THE GYRO ACCESS PANELS WERE BELOW THE HORIZONTAL
FINS. THE GYRO HAD TO BE ORENTED BEFOR IT WAS STARTED.
AFTER START IT COULDN'T BE TUMBLED.

Thanks I didn't know that. I thought I saw photos of boats with different orientations but I must be mistaken. I apppreciate the input. I'll be sure to set them correctly.

Here are the new and improved torpedoes. As you can see one is green. The other 3 are still bare plastic. 2 of them will be green and one will be a dark grey. Ocean Grey? The grey one is because the photo of the 495 has one dark and one light torpedo showing.
The props need to get some clear flat and, once painted, the warheads will need a little "aging". It didn't show up in these photos but all 4 have a yellow varnish tint to them.

Thanks Kurt. I'm sort of experimenting as i go. Boats and especially PT Baots are new to me. Getting this look on the torpedoes is pretty easy now that I've had a couple of cracks at them. If you want details, let me know.

I wonder if you COULD turn the fish around in the rack and launch it sternward......
