The message board is experiencing some major problems. It is not clear wether it is malicious hacking or the program inflicting self corruption.
Last week Friday the board experienced over 1,000 new member registered from two Russian IP addresses and using yahoo email addresses (their favorite). They or the person doing this could be behind the present program errors. With this in mind membership is back up 2,700 members after deleting more than 2,000 last March. Our actual membership is around 600 with an average of 300 visitors a day.
Also the "PT 658 Donation" banner has mysteriously disappeared, now just a little blue missing image graphic appears in its place (blue square with question mark).
Two weeks ago we had 155 page navigation links indicated at the bottom of the message board frame. These were the little blue page number links at the bottom of the posting index form. Also on the message start page, which few use, indicated over 24,000 posts. If you were to observe these items on the current board you would find only 26 blue page links at the bottom posting page and on the start page only 4,700 posts indicated. Resulting in 20,000 lost posts and 120 missing archive posting pages. However, they are not lost just errors in the data base control files.
If you were to do perform a search for a previous post, you would find it in the now unlisted pages. But if you were to post a message on that older post page it will not make it to our index table of posted pages - these type of posts don't show up.
I've been working this week trying to find a way to correct the situation, hopefully in the next few days I will resolve the issue. However, newer posts will be lost due to my inability to correct the issues while posts are being made. If you have something you believe is important to post, please hold off for a while until I resolve the programing issue.
Keeping my fingers crossed ! ! ! !

Keeping my fingers crossed too, Dick. Sorry it makes so much extra work for you. I don't, however, believe the rumor that this has been caused by Frank and Jerry feuding about Elco vs Higgins.

Sorry to hear that. I hope its resolved without too much head ache or head scratching. Worrying though about the donations button, I'd hate to think someone might channel the money elsewhere.
Unfortunately some have no morals or appreciation.

Keith . . .
There is no "Donations Button", I don't ask for any monetary assistances. If you see a button it isn't from this board / site, if you see one on this site, let me know where, it should not be there.

Dick,
Thank you for all you do for us PT veterans, researchers, and enthusiasts. This Board and Forum wouldn't exist without you. Sorry these jerks are making this work for you.
Any-hoo, Merry Christmas and thanks again.

My theory: Putin offers a bounty on take downs of Western sites. (Russians always had an inferiority complex...)
Or, a kid who can show that he did same, can get a better job with Government/Military/ Mafia, take your choice...

Hi Dick,
Maybe way too much work but perhaps you could set it up so that only after somebody has applied to your with their first post not actually posted until you approve their membership as a valid poster? I have seen this setup on some other message boards and it seems like it may be able to prevent spammers from actually posting anything until their account was approved. Maybe make it a 24 hour waiting period for new applications to get approval? Just a thought, like I said it may be way too much work for any administrator. Thanks for all of your efforts in any case !Jerry

Repair and correction still on going - but still not operating correctly as of yet. Hope to be able to correct the issues shortly.
