Anyone have a real nice color shot of Ron 16 Plaque or patch, not ones from PT Boats Inc, and the store. Need a good one for painting job.

Thanks Ted, that will do just fine. I checked that site, but I think this is an old post. If I had the extra dough I would have bid on that for sure. I don't know if the jacket sold or what. What a great piece. I had a jacket like this in my 1998 Exhibit painted like this, only it was Ron 17. The guy who had it loaned it, in fact I think he just donated it to PT BOATS INC.

Hi Frank,
Over in Fall River I took this photo of the RON16 display on board the Battleship Mass PT Boat Museum. I think this is supposed to be a popular comic strip character Snuffy Smith (a moonshiner) riding a torpedo. I hope this is helpful. Jerry

Thanks Jerry, funny how the patch doesn't show the flying Bee, which i think that is what it is, showing up here.

Snuffy Smith is correct. The moonshiner got drafted into the Navy. It was also referring to the first CO. Bee or Mosquito, Snuffy just got stung in the back of the head.
Take care,

Looks a little like Snuffy Smith, but Snuffy was short and not so chubby (as on the jacket art). Looks more like J. Wellington Wimpy from the "Popeye" cartoons to my eye.
The jug of corn does go more with Snuffy, though.

Hi! I see this is an old bit of messages that came up on a Google search with my grandfather’s name. I imagine he was a LT during his PT boat days. Russell H Smith, who had a big nose, went by Snuffy Smith until the day he died. I cannot see the photos in this message and hope you can help me see them.
Thank you all for your device!

Welcome Vera!
Nice work Dick! I think that in a past life you must have been an archeologist. I figured that those photos were lost for good...
