OMG! Ahoy, Sully...you cn't imagine how
good it is to hear from you. I sure as hell
wish I could have stopped by to see you
on my way from Washington to here, in
Tennessee. I have so many things I'd like
to know about your and Dad's service
aboard the 107 boat. One thing is that I'm
not sure where the boat was opererating
from when he made GMC aand got
transferred to Melville as an instructor.
Mom, my brother Ed, and I lived in
Portsmouth, RI (I think) in Navy housing
called The Anchorage while dad was
stationed there. After about a year, he was
transferred to RON13 at Borneo. They had
the 78-ft Higgins boats.

Please contact me directly at this email address Sully:

Hi Sully,

Thanks for identifying when and where that
refueling picture was taken. Dad told me
that the search for a Japanese Radio
station at the Galapagos, Is turned into
a nightmare ashore...worn out boondockers
because of the sharp lava, etc. Guess there
was a time when the shore party wasn't
sure they'd make it back to the PTs.
That was a long trip for the boats on their
own bottoms, for sure, Sully.

Got to thinking about the fiasco during an
early morning attempt to land either Army
Rangers or Marine Raiders at a bay on
Kolombangara? Island...boats got badly
shot up and seems as I recall, one of the
boats had to run into the bay and tow
another one out under fire from the shore,
even up in the trees. I'm not sure which
boats besides the 107 was on that mission.

Dad told me that one man was hit in the ear
by rifle fire and the bullet exited out his nose...
not sure if that was on the 107 boat, though.

All the best Sully,

Bob

Boy I love it so much I think I might ask Stan to build me one, or at the very least ask for one for Christmas, LMAO. Where do these guys that produce these things get their information, too much. The back yard it is.

Sorry Jerry.

I misspelled Bamiba.

Bamiba was popular drink in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

Here's the You tube video of SSgt. Barry Sadler's song, 'Bamiba'.

Thanks Peter, so it was a drink in Vietnam? That sounds like the Mojo Punch we used to drink in Subic Bay! I found some lyrics to that song that explain it better. I had never heard of bamiba before! It all makes sense now! Jerry

Oh, won’t you help me Sergeant get me out of Pleiku jail
I don’t know how I got here; I was drunk on the Ho Chi Trail
It was Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah whoo
(Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah whoo)
Bamiba, Bamiba, Bamiba, wah whoo
Wah whoo
