Below is a 7-minute video from the National Archives. It was very, very dark so I attempted to lighten it up a bit. While I did that I added a period piece sound track with a couple of "news flashes" inserted.

To view it at YouTube, click on the Youtube logo in the bottom bar of the video.

Great find Dick a little gem that shows the early Boats in part of their daytime routine, the background sound overlay works really well too.

Nice Dick, interesting to see the ordnance maintenance being done. Thank you for taking the time to do this.

Ahoy there.

I can just see Frank tossing and turning in bed as he dreams about all the dioramas Syan and others can build based on this film.

Love the detail shots of the flag and how it was attached to the mast ;and the mast rigging too.

Whatever happened to PT-21?

Cheers from Peter

Trust me Pete, if I had all the models and Diorama's built that were in my head, I would need a new building to house them. Besides, my dear friend Stan is starting to slow down a bit, so there is no way I could have him build me too much in advance, but I keep trying. Let's not forget those 2 wonderful models ( PT-302 & PT-109) that my friend Bob Butler has been building me, HELP I AM OUT OF ROOM, HA, HA...........

Peter;
PT 21 history after RON 1:
Transferred 22 December 1942 to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron THREE (2), (PTRon 3[2]) under the command of Lt. Hugh M. Robinson, USN
PTRon 3(2) was the first squadron to arrive in the Solomons, and fought many strenuous engagements with the Tokyo Express at Guadalcanal. PT's 21, 23, 25, and 26 were stationed at the island of Funafuti, in the Ellice Group,
until the middle of 1943. These boats, known as Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 3, Division 2, were under command of Lt. Jonathan F. Rice, USNR, while on this detached duty
Transferred 27 September 1943 to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron TWO under the command of Lt. Alvin P. Cluster, USN
The "Black Jack", ex-"Sad Sack" was struck from the Navy Register 11 October 1943 because of obsolescence, however, it was used for awhile as a small boat, before being stricken.
Fate unknown.

The RON 1 crew of PT 21 was broken up once arriving at Tulagi, The LPO Christianson, of PT 21(and I think one or two others), I know went to JFK's crew on PT 59. His new PT-59 enlisted crew were:
Maquire
Mauer
Kowal
Drewitch
Drawdy
Helmer
Christianson
Cline
Alexander
Servatius
Slagle
Scribner
Strickland
Facto

Take care,
TED
