Guys;
I am looking for some quick info. Can anyone tell me what his Knights of the Sea bio says? I believe he is also from the Eastern Shore of Virginia or moved there after the war. If this is the same person, his son is currently a Doctor on the Shore, and I also went to school with his granddaughter.
Take care,
TED

Don't see a bio in Knights of the Sea for him.

Ted . . . .
Only a vague reference to him from a bio for : JAMES FRANKLIN SUMMERS, (Lt.jg.), Ron 23, 27 - See partial below:
I was selected to join Ron 27 because they needed another boat officer. Got Zarubica's boat with another officer named Bill (basketball player from Tempe, AZ). Sorry I cannot remember names so well . Ron 27 went on up to Palau, Leyte Gulf and Manila Bay. We were based at Subic Bay and survived the Corregidor and Manila Bay campaign. Lots of sniper fire, boats, and mines. I must have had nearly 125 combat patrols without leave (could be a record) . Came back to states in May '45 with John Mapp and James Franklin Summers Bill Thawley. I weighed 1061bs. when we got to San Francisco. They called it "combat fatigue." Was back at Melville when the bomb was dropped.

Dick;
Thanks, I realize there are a few holes, but I thought there might be something, since he was the Corregidor rescue boat Skipper for Ray Shafer.
Take care,

Ted,
I found his obituary for Lt.(jg) James Franklin Summers and all it said that he was a PT Boat Skipper in the Pacific. He died in Oct. of 2007. Bill

Thanks Charlie! I thought he might be from Accomac. That makes two PT Skippers from the Eastern Shore! Carlton Byrd and John Mapp.
Take care,
