I don't have a page up yet since it's not done yet but thought I'd post the hopefully finished port view. God only knows when I'll stop dragging heel on the rest. :p I stopped trying to fit the drawings within the confines of a standard web page, it's OK for smaller stuff but just too limited for drawings like the bridge and chart house. I'll have detail views on the page with links to the larger drawings. I'll enlarge the bridge and chart house to match when I'm done with the trunk: http://www.pt103.com/images/PT_Boat_Elco_103_Class_Day_Room_Cabin_Trunk_Gridded_Port.jpg. Suggestions, corrections, and critiques are welcome.

I have a note on the drawing:

The term day room is used for the aft house on an Elco 80' PT boat although the term is more apt to the cabin inside the trunk. The main drawing is named Construction Of Cabin Trunk. Day room is used in titles of interior drawings such as Floor Construction In Crew's Day Room and Crew's Day Room And Ammunition Stowage Racks. The hatch drawing is titled Cabin Trunk Hatch. The following definitions are from the Navy Department's Nomenclature of Naval Vessels, February 1942 (http://www.history.navy.mil/books/nnv/index.htm):

CABIN: The interior of a deck house, usually the space set aside for the use of officers and passengers.

TRUNK: A vertical or inclined shaft formed by bulkheads or casings, extending one or more deck heights, around openings in the decks, through which access can be obtained, cargo, stores, etc., handled, or ventilation provided without disturbing or interfering with the contents or arrangements of the adjoining spaces.

The term day room was not listed.

My take on it is that the day room is the type of cabin, with the cabin located inside the trunk. If any veterans read this, I'd like to know what you guys called the exterior of the day room cabin.
