Ahoy there.
Every time I hear of the passing of another vet I think of these lines from, "And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda". Here are the lines I think are really poignant and fitting here.
"And I watch the parade pass before me
And I watch my old comrades, how proudly they march
Reliving old dreams of past glory
And the old men march slowly, all bent, stiff and sore
The forgotten heroes from a forgotten war
And the young people ask, "What are they marching for?"
And I ask myself the same question
And the band plays...
And the old men answer to the call
But year after year their numbers get fewer
Some day no one will march there at all "
Go in peace and may you find your eternal rest for you've already served your time in Hell.
Thanks to all vets who served that we might stay free. Unlike the line in that song, to me you will NEVER be forgotten.
Cheers from Peter

Peter,
A friend of my father was offered a ride in one of the landrovers that are available for the older Vets in the ANZAC Day March this year, He refused and walked with other men from his unit, he served in Burma and helped to liberate a number of the Burma Railway Death Camps, HE'S 102 and still is full of fire and the stories he tells will curl your toes so to speak, here's the thing he remembers all the mates he left behind and did not come home, those of us that know these men and listen to their stories must pass them on to our young ones, that way not just the War but the men that fought it will be remembered.
Sorry to hear that another Vet has gone, but he will not be forgotten
Yours

Ahoy there David.
At one of the ponds where I run my Lindberg 1/32 scale PT boat many times people will come over to talk about it and then we get to talking about the real boats and crews who fought from them. This is in Canada. As long as we have a place like this board to teach us about the Iron Men On Wooden Boats those men will not be forgotten and their boats will sail on for many more years even if those boats are scale representatives.
I am ever so thankful to each and every vet who contributes anything at all to this font of knoweledge. I hope their stories will be remembered down through history.
Cheers from Peter
