Been doing research on my dad's service record. Found out he was on the PT 370 when it was shipped into the Pacific. Anybody out there who was on that boat?
Pretty amazing forum....................

Hey Will,
that was the photo I was about to post! You beat me to it! THis was the photo I was able to scan from MoMM2/c Kenny Morris of PT364 RON18 collection. His wife Elsie allowed me to scan them. The boat is significant because it was made up in Canada wasnt it? Kenny Morris was also one of PT658's original crew.

Yeah, Jerr. Built in Canada, outfitted at Fyfe's in NY. AT CLOSE QUARTERS has a brief bio in the back.

Holy cow guys, what is this I see. Looks like a 77 footer's hull with 77 footer turret placements. The day room looks Elco but the chart house from the angle of the photo looks Higgins. And what gives with such a high boat number ?? Wow, I never stop learning on this site !!

Paperwork I have says Canadian Power Boat Montreal 70' PT368-371!
However the photo does make her look like a 77' Elco I know she isn't but she still looks to be 77' not 70' ???

After a crash corse in Higgians boats, Thank You Frank. That is not a Higgins silhouette. That is a 77' Elco, and a really interesting one. Look at the shape of the bow, the gun turrets, the vents and the guy standing in the hatch (the negitive was upside down when printed). Someone is messing with photo shop or some censor is playing with the number.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! I'm going to keelhaul you scurvy dogs... :-). This is a 70' Canadian Power Boat Company boat, one of four reverse lend/leased to the USN. The original recipient was the Royal Netherlands Navy. Tonight, when I get home, I'll upload the original CPB plans for this type.

Bob;
It is actually a 70' Canadian Power Boat, Montreal, which was the Canadian version of the 70' Scott Paine British Power Boat MTB/MGB. The four boats that were , were acquired under reverse lend-lease from the Dutch Government, were fitted out at Fyfe's Shipyard on Long Island, as mentioned previously. Of the four boats, two were lost to groundings in enemy territory and and destroyed to prevent capture.
Take care,
TED
