Ahoy there.
I'm working on a modified pedestal mounted 20mm Oerlikon cannon for my rebuilt 1/32 scale Lindberg PT boat. I've also modified an Italeri 1/35 scale duffle bad to use as the spent cartridge catch bag. Here are thre images of the parts I've made/modified so far. The 20mm magazine has two handles on it that I made from copper wire. The piece to tthe right of the magazine will be the offset sight mount. I took it (1 of 3 just like it) from a 1/35 scale anti-tank missile mount.
Thanks for the advice and thank you for your interest.

Ahoy there maties!
I went to the library today to check the book that I thought hadan image of an 81 mm mortar on an 80' Elco boat. I found it! It's on page #147 of UNITED STATES PT-BOATS of WORLD WAR II by Frank D. Johnson.
I hope it's okay to post the image here.

Here's the text from the image:
This image was taken late in thte war after the invasion of the Phillipines, and isinteresting because of the weaponry on display.
Taken from beside the cockpit of an Elco 80-footer, the subject of the photo is... But also visible are two 20 mm cannons, a 37 mm cannon on the bow and an 81 mm mortar. The mortar was found to be particularly useful for lighting up an area with a flare just before opening fire on an unsuspecting barge that had been located with radar.
So, is it an 81 mm mortar on this boat?
Thanks and cheers from Peter

Peter;
It sure looks like one to me. I completely forgot about this photo!
But, now you need to do alot more work, because your 81mm motar can be part of a VERY cool diorama! If, you want your boat to be PT 525 ("Return Ticket" ) RON 36. On this boat on October 24, 1944, General Douglas MacArthur returned to the Philippines at Tacloban, Leyte.
Lt. Alexander W. Wells, USNR, RON 1, 4, 6, and 36 was the Skipper.
The photo in Frank Johnson's book of Dugout Doug returning, is also PT 525, I think there are a series of 3-4 photos, in that book, correct? That would be a very cool diorama(and Tamaiya already makes a MacArthur figure).
Take care,
TED
