Great descriptions CJ!

This is the Galley Ashore for PT-154 (from Pat Rogers) on Stirling Island c. October 1943
The cook is C.W.Bourneman from the LA area. The famous Ford Lunch was his previous employment.

Did I hear someone say they had it rough, that looks to be at least a 4 Star Rated Palm tree Chow Hut

C.W. has that look that lets you know he is rather proud at that moment.

But you can see that a hell of a lot of work has gone into his display.

It shows how much effort these guys put into making life a little better for themselves and their mates while being in the islands.

Earl I did have Christmas Dinner at the base chow hall at noon there at Treasury in 1943. You probably cooked it for us. Had turkey and all the trimmings. Best fresh meat we had had for a long time. To celebrate Christmas the Medical officers poured a couple gallons of Grade A alcohol in the grapefruit juice. We dipped it out with our metal canteen cups and I believe we were also issued two warm beers after dinner. No patrol that night for 242. We had been out the night before.
