I was wondering if anyone had any photo's of the Base Camp on Treasury?
As I put my Father In-laws book together, I thought it would be nice to have a photo of the base or island or something.
He was there from Dec. 4, 1943 to May 1, 1944 when they moved to Green Island.

Nat
Great over-head shot of this cove. When was this photo taken, I can see what looks to be a floating dry dock to the left of the photo with a boat inside.

January 1944
The red circles are where Pat Rogers estimates that PT-154 would tie up.
It is always good to hear from Earl ... thanks for this information.

Great photo,
Lets play spot the PT Boat I can find at least 12 all the way round the cove, in this black and white shot they are quite hard to see I wonder what it might have been like in colour.
Frank you are right that is a floating Dry dock with a Boat in it.

I spot only 10, must have been tough for planes to spot the boats. from over-head. Boy they really blend in with the landscape.

Treasury was a beautiful island. All along the shore where the boats berthed there were huge trees with horizontal limbs that hung out over the water. We had to walk one of those limbs to get ashore. The water was deep enough along shore that we could tie the boat under these overhanging limbs. The water was clear and you could see 20-30 feet deep. We cleared a place on shore at our berth for a place to cook and eat. We set up two tents on shore where we had a propane gas field range stove where our cook, Bill Knapp, cooked most of our meals. This was the only base that we were at in the Solomons where we cooked and ate at the boat. The other bases we were at we ate at the base chow hall. About half of our crew slept in the tents on the shore. I slept under a tarp on the bow of the boat. One night the guys on shore all came charging on the boat. There was a small earthquake that shook them awake and cracked some tree limbs around their tents. We never felt it on the boat. We cut the heads out of steel drums and placed them around the tents to catch rain water for bathing. We had a nice set up there but had to leave it when we got shot up and had to go back to Tulagi for repairs and new torpedoes. We were never based at Treasury again.
