I meant for the Topic to read "Other 'Tender Moments'........"

I hope that you all don't mind if I toot my own horn and share my two latest Tenders of the USS Barnegat Class, like the USS Oyster Bay was.

USS Duxbury Bay AVP-38 at Kerama Retto, Okinawa in May 1945.

USCGC Cook Inlet WAVP-384 (former USS Cook Inlet AVP-36) circa 1949-53.

Carl, that is simply Awesome !! Not only the build but the photography is so far over the top. Did you set-up outside and use a real backdrop for the setting or is it a photograph/poster used as the background ? I love the weathering on the hulls of both ships and the snow and ice on the second ship is just spectacular. Well done.

These ships aren't directly related to PT Boats but, I'm glad that they have been welcomed here as much as they have.

Thank you, all, for your wonderful compliments.

I enjoy photographing my models as much, if not more, than building them. Sometimes, I wonder if I build them just to photograph them. Actually, I prefer to look at the photos more than the actual model.

The ice flow diorama was the most difficult to make realistic photos of; trying to find backdrop images with white snow/ice and not with a bluish tint to it all. This is the major differences between the others with just open water and no ice or other obstacles in the water.

Roy,

I use photos printed on legal size paper for the backdrops and photograph them in direct sunlight.

The backdrop for the USS Duxbury Bay is actually from Kerama Retto, present day, with two different images used for the different angles.

And if non one minds, I hope that you like these pics, too.
